About

Erika Beecher is a Certified Professional Midwife serving Worcester County. She has been working in the field of Maternal Child Health and Midwifery for the past 25 years.

Erika received her experiential introduction to Midwifery as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Papua New Guinea in 1986. She began formal Midwifery training in 1996 and rounded out her experience by participating in a clinical internship in Jamaica at a small hospital in Savannah La Mar.

In 2001 she launched her independent midwifery practice and worked in cooperation with two experienced midwives to serve birthing folks in Central Massachusetts. Erika has designed her practice to be educational and emphasizes optimal nutrition. emotional health and an active lifestyle to foster the best outcomes. Her belief is that individuals know best what is good for them and their babies- supporting people to access their internal wisdom is her passion.

As a young woman she traveled extensively in Europe, from the West coast of Ireland to Turkey and into North Africa. This early introduction to cultural diversity has profoundly influenced her style of practice and made her adapt easily to new situations. These rich life experiences both personal and professional have kept her mind and heart open to the uniqueness of families.

In addition to her work as a midwife she is the mother of four grown children who were born at home with the assistance of midwives. This experience of birthing and raising her own family has profoundly informed her work. Erika serves her community with maturity, a keen intellect and a sweet sense of humor.
